She was a good- looking woman who wanted me and I went with it.' The terror began when Mrs Ansell became concerned about what Mr Smith might do with 'cheeky pictures' she had sent him. On Wednesday, Ansell began a seven- and- half- year jail sentence after a jury found him guilty of terrorising Mr Smith and his new girlfriend, Stephanie Hepke and her family. He had carried out vicious graffiti attacks with spray paint on Mr Smith's vehicle and spray painted the driveway of Miss Hepke's parents home in Potters Bar Herts with offensive words.
He daubed more graffiti across the front of the pet grooming parlour where Miss Hepke worked in Enfield, North London. At first she enjoyed the attention he paid her and their coffees together. But it wasn't long before they began an affair in the Spring of 2. Their relationship came to an end in the summer of that year, but soon afterwards Neil found out what had been going on when he saw old tell- tale text messages on his wife's mobile phone. The couple managed to patch up their differences, but he was wracked with jealousy and rage and wanted to get back at Mr Smith. He also targeted Mr Smith's new girlfriend, pet groomer Stephanie Hepke, 2.

The front of her dog grooming parlour in Crews Hill, Enfield, North London also had offensive graffiti daubed across it when the words 'slag' and 'slut' appeared overnight in yellow paint. It belonged to the girlfriend of Miss Hepke's brother, but was similar in appearance to the black Minii Miss Hepke drove. On Tuesday, shop worker Mrs Ansell and her husband, of Downlands in Stevenage, appeared for sentence having been found guilty earlier this year of two offences of putting a person in fear of violence by harrassment involving Mr Smith and Miss Hepke. With them in the dock was their friend Williams, from Portman Close, St Albans who had helped the husband with the arson attack on the car outside Miss Hepke's home. Mr Williams had been acquitted of the harrassment charges at a trial in April, but the jury couldn't decide if he and Ansell had conspired together to commit the arson. Lousie Ansell had been acquitted of that charge on the direction of the trial judge. This week following a retrial, Williams and Ansell were found guilty of conspiracy to commit arson. During the first trial the jury heard the wife and Mr Smith had sex for the first time in April of 2. But after the affair was over she became concerned about what he might do with the photos.
Despite her infidelity the court heard the Ansells were able to rekindle their relationship, but the husband was still wracked with jealousy and wanted revenge on Mr Smith who he saw as his 'arch enemy'. Prosecutor Anthony Heaton- Armstrong said the wife had assisted and encouraged her husband in his campaign of harrassment.'The prosecution say the ring leader was Neil Ansell, his second in command was his wife Louise and the hench person was James Williams,' he said. The actual fire was started by Williams outside the home of Miss Hepke, having been given the job by Mr Ansell, said the prosecutor. Mr Heaton- Armstrong told the jury: 'This is terror, people being terrorised about their homes being set on fire in the middle of the night and killed.'The court heard as the terror campaign continued, the Hepke family had installed CCTV cameras outside the front of their home and blocked up the letter box to prevent petrol being poured into the property and ignited. Miss Hepke and Mr Smith are no longer in a relationship.
